We are excited to share our latest collaboration with NextView Ventures, a partnership that began in 2019. Building on years of work together, Design Axl has led a comprehensive brand refresh, including a new brand voice, identity, and a suite of applications such as logo, website, and digital assets. Collaborating with illustrator Dana Smith, photographer Liz Linder, Herzog & Schindler for brand voice, and Code Greene for web development, we've crafted a fresh visual narrative that reflects NextView’s vision, team, and investments.
Phase I: Brand Redefinition
Design Axl redefined NextView's brand, creating a cohesive system that ensures consistent communication across all platforms. We developed a refined brand narrative to serve as a foundation for both internal and external messaging, guiding future communications with clarity and impact.
Phase II: Brand Identity
The project included a complete visual identity overhaul, featuring a new logo, typography, color palette, and design principles. Comprehensive brand guidelines were crafted to support consistent application of the new identity across digital and print media, with additional assets, such as illustrations and social media graphics.

Design Axl conducted a strategic audit of NextView's existing site to streamline its content and architecture. We provided copy recommendations and created wireframes that integrated the new brand identity into a clear, intuitive web experience. After gathering feedback, we designed unique pages and templates for both desktop and mobile, delivering high-fidelity wireframes to inform development.
Phase IV: Development & SEO
The approved designs were translated into a custom WordPress theme, built with SEO best practices and responsive performance. We migrated content, conducted rigorous quality assurance testing, and delivered training to the NextView team to ensure seamless site management post-launch.

Momentum Commerce sought to enhance its digital presence and service efficiency. The project aimed to develop a comprehensive value proposition, understand stakeholder needs, analyze the competitive landscape, and design an engaging website and social media system. A refined value proposition showcased Momentum Commerce's strengths in data-driven strategies, consumer insights, creative services, and retail media. Detailed personas informed personalized experiences, while revamped information architecture and branding ensured seamless user journeys. Design Axl collaborated with Sosolimited to design an interactive visualization of virtual healthcare data for athenahealth. This dynamic screen-based experience allows healthcare providers to see how their usage of virtual care compares to similar practices. Driven by athenahealth’s data collections from their network of providers; trends, key metrics, and insights related to virtual care that improve practice performance are shared with the user. Tenant Digital Experience (TDE)
Coming out of COVID, we reimagined a tenant digital
experience for a real estate firm that owns and manages office buildings
and labs in the life science and technology sectors. Working with an existing interface
serving less than 10% of the tenant base nationwide, we developed a full platform
experience that allowed every tenant (from start-ups to large corporations) to
control, customize, and manage their experience with the building and landlord—ranging from community event participation and amenity selections to facility
reservations.
Design Axl teamed up with longtime partner Herzog
& Schindler—a brand innovation consultancy—to conduct tenant stakeholder interviews and research, and to
translate brand benefits and value proposition to the digital product realm.
The goal was to successfully extend the company’s strong brick and mortar brand
into the digital space, delivering the same high touch experience to tenants via
mobile and desktop and increasing engagement as people began to come back to
the office. Design Axl created the entire UI and UX flow for the platform,
mapping all the new options and functions to the existing backend.

This project was designed to support the increasing priority of tenant engagement within the company—to keep tenants longer and to help tenants recruit and serve their own talent. Start-ups need a larger community they can plug into while larger companies want a frictionless experience managing their space as well as help onboarding new hires.
A customized digital environment can deliver branded connective tissue for an office community, with shared critical services and functionality as well as customized content and offerings based on building location and tenant size.
In the interviews we conducted, tenants across the country were unanimous in saying they “require 21st century information sharing” –the modern workforce doesn’t just need well-designed physical space, they also need a well-designed and accessible information space. Our design is inspired by the “beauty of discovery” and the UX design is focused on a frictionless and enabling experience with a shared digital lobby.

MediaVax
MediaVax analyzes and measures the risk of social media content in real-time. MediaVax arms media and business for the fight against social disinformation. Design Axl created the entire UX flow, wireframes, UI, and visual design. Design Axl teamed up with the data science team at MediaVax on the back end AI pipeline and Code Greene on the front end development. Design, development, and data science worked hand in hand over many weeks to create a prototype for MediaVax to test with users.
PolyPlexus is an innovative platform developed by Aixxia, a not-for-profit consortium of cross-disciplinary experts, dedicated to exploring ways to amplify the power of science in the pursuit of invention and innovation. Design Axl played a critical role in the project by creating a completely new information architecture, visual design, and both front-end and back-end systems to support its mission.

Precision Health AI is a platform technology company focused on applications of AI to Oncology. Serving Pharma, Life Sciences, Providers, and Payers PHAI combines modern AI technology with best in class oncology data with a focus on improving outcomes and driving value based care.
Math Talk
Design Axl worked with MathTalk to develop the User Interface, User Experience, and Augmented Reality for their forthcoming mobile platform. MathTalk aims to activate public spaces for early math learning. MathTalk is creating “MathScapes” — artistic, culturally relevant, easily accessible, physical installations that will be paired with the MathTalk app, both designed to stimulate adults and children to utilize their immediate environment to playfully explore key early math concepts.
The MathTalk team consisted of numerous experts on Early Childhood Education from Boston University and the University of Chicago, as well as community experts from neighborhoods in Cambridge, MA. The creative team was a mix of designers, developers, and illustrator Diego Chaves.

Grid City
Design Axl has been working with Grid City to create the visual identity system, beer cans, seltzer cans, indoor/outdoor signage, merchandise, and overall brand strategy. It’s so exciting to see this project come to life. Thanks to Ventricle Media for the video documentation.

Liz Linder is a Boston-based photographer who uses images to tell stories that matter. Liz is an amazing photographer and even better person. We’ve been fortunate enough to collaborate with Liz on many photoshoots—including this guy—and it was a privilege to work on her visual identity system, and website, and consult on her latest portfolio. One of the most exciting projects was working on a time-based animation featured in Times Square.
